Experience improved physical and mental health with personalised nutrition and health coaching
Persistent tiredness. Aches and pains. Brain fog. Digestive problems. Skin flare-ups. Poor sleep. Low energy.
Sometimes these symptoms seem completely unrelated. And sometimes, despite trying to eat well, rest more or simply “get on with it”, you still don’t feel like yourself.
Believe it or not, inflammation may be part of the picture.
This is an important health issue that many people overlook, don't think about, or even know about.
The symptoms above can have many different causes and should never simply be assumed to be caused by inflammation, but inflammatory processes are involved in many health conditions and understanding the wider picture of your diet, lifestyle, stress, sleep and everyday habits can be an important part of supporting and improving your health.
That is where I can help.
I’m Jeannette Darwin, a qualified Professional Nutrition and Health Coach.
I help adults, who are beginning to see the consequences of modern diet, chronic stress and unhealthy lifestyle habits, make meaningful changes to their health - before those problems become more difficult to reverse or manage.
If you've been told your blood sugar, cholesterol, blood pressure or weight is heading in the wrong direction, or you're simply tired, feeling blah! and no longer feeling as healthy as you once did, medication isn't the only intervention worth having a conversation about.
What we eat, movement, sleep, stress and the way we live every day can have a profound influence on our health.
External symptoms often result from what's going on inside the body, whether that's from an allergy or intolerance, or from a deficiency or excess of some kind.
Often it can be a small change in lifestyle and/or diet that does the trick.
I help people with conditions such as:
...just to name a few.
Support for you
Through personalised, science-led nutrition and health coaching, I help you identify the areas of your diet and lifestyle that may be working against you and turn that knowledge into practical changes you can actually sustain.
As a nutrition and health coach I can support you to achieve better health through a support programme that you control and complete at your own pace.
I offer a value for money service, taking into consideration your unique life experiences and current situation. It is an holistic approach that covers all the goals in complete confidence and with professionalism and support you can trust.
Don't leave it too late. As we get older, attempting to turn things around further down the line becomes more difficult, as that niggling issue becomes something much bigger and more deep-rooted.
My aim is simple: to help you improve the foundations of your health, reduce your risk of preventable chronic disease and, where possible and medically appropriate, reduce the likelihood of needing medication to manage conditions that can be strongly influenced by lifestyle.
No extreme diets. No miracle cures or quick fixes. No one-size-fits-all plans.
Just practical, personalised support to help you understand your body, change the things you can change and take greater control of your long-term health.
You may have been putting up with your symptoms for months or even years.
Perhaps you've adapted to them so gradually that feeling tired, achy, foggy or generally below par has simply become your version of normal.
It doesn't mean there is one simple explanation.
But it may mean your health deserves a closer look from a dietary or lifestyle point of view.
I offer a free initial conversation of up to 30 minutes so that you can tell me what's been happening, ask questions and find out whether nutrition and health coaching could be useful to you (or to someone you know).
There is no obligation to continue. But, what have you got to lose?
Do you deserve better health? I think so.
Take one clear, manageable step today towards feeling more the way you should.
My coaching may be particularly helpful if you:
You don't need to arrive knowing exactly what's wrong.
And you don't need to have everything figured out before contacting me.
That's what the first conversation is for.
Perhaps you:
You may have several of these symptoms or only one or two.
The important thing is not accept that this is something natural, or to diagnose yourself. It is to start asking better questions about your health. Such issues aren't about getting older either.
Persistent or unexplained symptoms should always be discussed first with your GP, or another appropriate healthcare professional.
What if your symptoms aren’t separate problems?
The human body doesn’t work as a collection of completely independent parts. What you eat can affect how you feel. Sleep affects energy and appetite. Stress can influence digestion, sleep and behaviour. Pain can make activity more difficult and be tiring. Low energy can make preparing nourishing food feel like another job on an already impossible list.
One thing begins to influence another.
That's why I don't start by handing you a diet sheet.
I start by listening.
Together, we look at your health, symptoms, diet, lifestyle and circumstances as a whole.
We look for patterns.
We identify areas that may need changing.
And then we turn those observations into practical steps you can incorporate into your daily life.
If you've been diagnosed with an inflammatory condition
Receiving a diagnosis can answer one question, while creating dozens more.
You may then find yourself wondering:
Do I need to change my diet?
Is my diet or lifestyle causing this?
Should I be avoiding certain foods?
Which health advice online can I actually trust?
Where do I start without completely changing my life?
Nutrition and health coaching isn't a replacement for medical treatment. Your medical team remains responsible for diagnosing and treating conditions that require medical interventions.
My role is different.
I can provide the time, education, practical support and accountability to help you work on the aspects of your everyday health that you can influence to improve your wellbeing and future-proof your physical and mental health.
You have a life.
You may have a family, work commitments, health problems, limited energy, financial considerations and years of established habits.
Any recommendations need to work in that life.
So instead of asking:
“What would the perfect diet look like?”
I'm much more interested in:
“What could make your health a little better — and what can you realistically sustain?”
Everyone is different. What works for one may not work for another.
1. Understand what's happening now
We begin with you — not with a generic plan.
We explore your current diet, symptoms, sleep, activity, stress, routines and the things that are making change difficult.
The aim is to understand your starting point before deciding what needs to change.
2. Make nutrition less confusing
Nutrition advice has become extraordinarily noisy.
One source tells you to avoid carbohydrates. Another tells you to avoid fat. Another gives you a long list of supposedly “inflammatory” foods you should never eat again.
I help you step away from the noise and look at your diet in a more balanced and practical way.
We'll consider the quality and variety of what you eat, your eating patterns and whether your current diet is supporting your wider health needs.
3. Look beyond food
Health isn't determined by food alone.
Depending on your circumstances, we may also explore:
You don't have to overhaul everything at once.
4. Turn knowledge into something you can actually do
Knowing what would be good for us and consistently doing it are very different things. This is where coaching matters.
We agree achievable changes together, work through obstacles and review what happens.
Rather than attempting a dramatic short-term transformation in two weeks, the goal is to build changes you can maintain for ongoing good health.
I look for connections
Before becoming a Nutrition and Health Coach, I spent around 30 years working in Information Technology as a Business Analyst.
It might seem an unusual route into health coaching, but one skill has followed me throughout both careers:
I have a natural need to want to understand why something isn't working.
My IT career gave me the opportunity to analyse and solve problems, ask questions, look for patterns and avoid jumping to conclusions.
I bring exactly that natural curiosity to my coaching.
My interest in inflammation is personal as well as professional
My interest in health began long before I became professionally qualified.
Over the years I have experienced my own health problems and learned first-hand how much work can be involved in trying to understand why you don't feel well.
That experience and the knowledge I acquired along the way, from research, and trial and error, led me to study health and nutrition more formally and ultimately to qualify as a Professional Nutrition and Health Coach.
Inflammatory health problems related to diet and lifestyle are an area I am particularly interested in supporting, because I bring both professional knowledge and personal experience to the conversation.
I understand the difference between knowing the theory and having to live it.

My qualifications and training include:
My approach is science-led, evidence-informed and individualised.
I also recognise the limits of my role.
*I do not diagnose medical conditions, prescribe medication or claim to cure disease.
Where symptoms need medical investigation or something falls outside my professional scope, I will encourage you to speak to the appropriate healthcare professional.
Good health coaching should complement good healthcare — not compete with it or replace it.
